Two days of food-themed camping fun celebrating Australia’s bush heritage and Outback traditions await at the Australian Camp Oven Festival held in Millmerran every two years. Get your camp oven cooking team ready for the big competition, or check out the cooking demonstrations. There are market stalls, heritage displays, bush poetry and country music, and you can bring your pup to this dog-on-a-lead-friendly event. Food on offer includes shepherd’s pie and damper, beef stew, chicken curry, roast beef and pork rolls. Breakfast includes savoury mince and damper and cornmeal fritters. All-day displays include blacksmiths at work, rocking horse carving, saddle maintenance, how to make wire sculptures and displays of old chainsaws and car displays. Millmerran is 82 km West of Toowoomba, a leisurely one-hour drive through the small town of Pittsworth and heading towards Goondiwindi. A free courtesy bus operates around Millmerran. Coach tour operators also run from Brisbane, Gatton and Crows Nest.
