Turn a picnic into a perfect occasion with a grazing platter or pop-up picnic from Janelle’s Kitchen at the Japanese Gardens at the University of Southern Queensland. Dean and Chris can provide everything you need for a picnic, including a generous amount of locally sourced food on their platters (order three days ahead). Platters can include Stanthorpe cheese, Lockyer Valley veggies and meat from Toni’s Continental Butcher & Smallgoods. Enjoy the traditional Japanese setting with a duck pond and red arch bridges as you settle into a cosy spot near the bamboo forest or babbling brook. You’ll feel like you’ve been transported to Japan when sitting in these serene gardens.
Guru Tip
Looking for a romantic picnic spot? Try Lake Annand where the natural bird habitat is a quiet respite.
