Savina Lane Wines, named after the first family to plant wine grapes on the Granite Belt, is renowned for handcrafted, sustainable wines. It recently made Australia’s Top 50 list in 2022 and is the only Queensland vineyard so acknowledged. Owners Brad and Cheryl Hutchings have breathed new life into the single-vineyard boutique winery, constructing a cellar door, planting emerging vine varieties and building an enormous underground cellar. Grapes are hand-picked, and the yield is deliberately kept small to capture the vineyard’s unique flavour. Solar energy powers the entire production, while organic fertilisers and sprays are used for sustainable practices.
Guru Tip
Planted 65 years ago by the Savina family, the Shiraz vines are one of just three original vines left in the region, and they still produce remarkable wines.
